While guests do not have a very high opinion of the neighbourhood itself, all concede that the location is supremely convenient. Munich's main station is just a 10-minute walk away. Many guests choose the hotel due to this proximity, since it eliminates the need for a cab, or the use of complicated local transport, when first arriving with their bags.

Guests find quite a few problems with the Germania Hotel, but many insist that it is exactly what they wanted, considering their budget. They seem to accept the problems for what they consider good room rates.

Several guests were very surprised that the breakfast was not just a couple of rolls and a cup of coffee. They describe it as a substantial buffet, and it really seemed to set them up for the day.

Perhaps the most widespread negative comment is that the hotel is situated on a road that is exceptionally loud at night. Guests speak of constant emergency vehicles with sirens blaring passing by, and also of a lot of shouting and disturbances outside at night.

Somewhat tied in with the noisy neighbourhood, guests also point out that there is no air conditioning in the rooms. Naturally in hot weather they become hot and stuffy, but guests are reluctant to leave the windows open at night due to the constant noise outside.

The Germania has both smoking and non-smoking rooms, but a surprising number of non-smokers comment that their non-smoking rooms smelt strongly of smoke. It seems there is some confusion or inability to assign rooms correctly. In any event, asthmatics and other who dislike smoke should double and triple check their room.
