About Hotel des Ecrivains

Formerly known as Hotel des Arts, the Hotel des Ecrivains and the artistic community that long frequented the district in which this hotel can be found have a long history which inspired the name change: Hotel of Writers.

All of the sleekly-designed hotel rooms are furnished with a TV, Wi-Fi, en-suite bathrooms with shower, and a safe while Room Triples come with a couch.

Guests have access to an around-the-clock reception and luggage storage. Newspapers, and multi-lingual staff can be found at the front desk as well.

A cold buffet breakfast is served daily in the hotel’s trendy dining room. Being Paris, guests are also able to reach a number of restaurants, cafés, and other eateries quite easily.

The Place d'Italie metro station is a four-minute stroll from Hotel des Ecrivains while Jardin du Luxembourg and the vibrant Quartier Latin are both roughly a 15-minute drive from the property.

Positive Reviews

Plenty of Food Choice Nearby

You will be spoilt for choice when it comes dining options near the hotel. Guests at this hotel are surrounded by a host of restaurants and cafés serving diverse cuisines, while supermarkets like Carrefour can be found in the nearby shopping mall as well. There are also fast food places like McDonald’s and KFC easily within walking distance for those on-the-go.

The Hotel Staff Are Quite Friendly

The staff are competent and friendly. They don’t mind going the extra mile like checking you in early if you arrive before your check-in time. They also speak fluent English.

Hygienic, Quiet, and Convenient

Cleanliness is not an issue at this hotel and most guests agree that the beds are comfortable. Fresh bed linens and towels are provided daily. The location is also quiet, away from the hustle-and-bustle of the city and the area feels completely safe. What’s more, the metro station is easily accessible with several connection points.

Negative Reviews

A Bit Small With No Extras

Many past guests have said that they found the rooms are a bit on the small side and lacking amenities. The smallness, it is said, can especially be felt in the bathroom where ventilation is also inadequate. There’s no coffee or tea maker, fridge, and no air conditioning. If you are travelling solo the rooms might be doable. As a couple, it will be a very tight squeeze.

The Lift Is Not Practical

There is a lift; however, it does not stop on the floor but between them. For example, if you want to go to the second floor, you will stop between the first and second floor and then take the stairs to the second floor. It’s awkward and you may wonder why they bother to have a lift at all.
